Where is Prambanan?

Prambanan is an Indonesian tourism-site, located in Java island, right on the border between the provinces of Central Java and Yogyakarta. Prambanan is the largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia.

UNESCO listed Prambanan as a World Heritage Site. This temple was built in about the year 850 AD, during the Sanjaya dynasty.

On May 27, 2006 an earthquake with a strength of 5.9 on the Richter scale hit Bantul and surrounding areas. The earthquake caused severe damage to many buildings and deaths in the population there, including the Prambanan temple.
